About me...

Born and raised in Central Florida, I attended the University of South Florida for my bachelor's degree (in Psychology) before making my way to North Carolina to attend Appalachian State University for graduate school. I have a Master's degree in Human Development and Psychological Counseling.

I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (#37711), licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina (NC Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor #4196 and South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor #8120), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (#494054), and a Certified Integrative Mental Health Provider (#439112).   I am registered as a Florida Telehealth Provider (#TPMC1323) which allows me to see clients via telehealth who reside in the state of florida. (Florida law requires I have a link to their department's website: https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth/)

I am part of the Star Behavioral Health Provider registry, which means I am committed to serving our Military Service Members and have taken trainings to ensure that as a civilian Behavioral Health provider, I am well versed in Military Culture and challenges that are specific to Military Service. I am also a Military One Source provider and accept TriCare and VA Community Care Referrals.

I am a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC). Gaining certification as a CFRC was important to me to have the intense training in the culture and needs of First Responders. I have also completed the Burlington Police Department's Community Police Academy, and I serve as a volunteer for the department.

I have a variety of experiences that helped to guide me in my clinical work. Before committing full time to private clinical practice, i worked as a NC State licensed school counselor for 10 years (Lexington: Central Davidson MIddle School and in Burlington: Walter M. Williams High School). I also worked for a clinical agency (Triumph, LLC) as a contract therapist, as well as for the Alamance-Caswell-Rockingham Local Management Entity as a part of their Crisis Team.

I am also a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor and Board Certified Functional Health Coach.  These services are available through my Lotus Life Integrated Wellness, LLC business.  (See the Services Offered page for more information.)

I strongly believe in the mind-body-spirit connection. I encourage my clients to seek treatments that enable them to feel well-balanced and functioning at their optimum level. While I utilize many different theories of counseling orientation, my base of treatment can be best viewed as Cognitive Behavioral mixed with research-based neuroscience and Mindfulness/Meditative practices and interventions. Thoughts and feelings and behaviors are intertwined and change in one manifests changes in the others. Mindfulness, or the act of truly paying attention to yourself and your surroundings in the immediate moment without judging, is another foundation which guides my treatment and interventions. Both theories are solid, evidenced-based models.

Please note that there is another local therapist with the same name, that is why I use the "E" for my middle name to distinguish who I am (although the other therapist spells her first name differently).

I am married, and have 2 boys (24 and 18). My family and I live in Burlington, so this is my home community and one in which i hope I can make a positive impact.
